Talking is Mental CIC
- VO103203
Talking is Mental CIC is an organisation based in Glasgow combating social isolation and loneliness through the delivery of activity groups across the city and by encouraging dialogue around the impacts of these issues on physical and mental health. All our our groups are open and inclusive for all. We are committed to making them free or as low cost as possible to ensure that payment isn't a barrier to someone taking part and making a connection.
We are completely volunteer-run and rely on support from people like you who are willing to give their free time for this amazing cause. Currently, we are looking for volunteers to support our lead facilitators and Directors with the delivery of a few of our activity groups, including:
Art
A new group we are about to launch led by a qualified Artist and Teacher for women and non-binary people. This will be a space for people to learn new skills and bring along what they are currently working on. The group will take place every other week and be 1.5 hours long. The volunteer will support the group leader by setting out materials, making teas and coffees, chatting with attendees or supporting them with what they're working on.Walking
Our walks take place at different locations across Glasgow every Sunday, lasting about 1 - 2 hours. The volunteer will take part in the walk, support the walk leaders, chat to group attendees, make everyone feel welcome, and guide people in the right direction.Writing
Our new writing group will take place every other week, for 1.5 - 2 hours. It will be a relaxed learning environment for people to practice their writing skills with creative prompts and share them if they feel comfortable. Volunteers will support the group leader, set up materials, welcome and chat to group attendees, create a welcome and inclusive space, make tea and coffees, guide attendees with the work if they need it.Theatre
Our Theatre group takes place every Monday evening from 7:30 pm to 9pm. Attendees come to connect with other people, take part in drama games, build their confidence, try out performance skills and learn new things. The volunteer will support the group leader by setting out materials, encouraging attendees to participate and join in, and supporting those who need extra help and sparking conversation.
You could choose to support one of these groups, or try your hand at all of them, it's up to you! If you are interested in getting involved and want to find out more please get in touch with us at itismental24@gmail.com.
If you are interested please click the ‘apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email.
