About this Event
Family, friends, and colleagues will come together to honour and remember loved ones at Alzheimer Scotland’s Memory Walks—a special day where every step celebrates old memories and creates new ones. Could you be part of the team that makes this meaningful event happen?


We’re looking for enthusiastic Fundraising and Engagement Volunteers to support the smooth running of our Glasgow Memory Walk 2025, taking place at the Glasgow Club Crownpoint Sports Complex.


By joining us, you’ll help create a welcoming, joyful, and supportive atmosphere for all participants while helping raise vital funds for people living with dementia.


Volunteer Responsibilities
• Setting up and closing down the venue – putting up welcome signage, banners, posters, sound equipment, and Alzheimer Scotland information stands.
• Meeting and greeting walkers and supporters – providing a warm welcome, guiding attendees from arrival through registration and to the walk start point.
• Supporting event partners and teams – helping Brain Health Scotland and local teams set up their stalls and meet guest speakers.
• Helping with refreshments – handing out bottled water and fruit to participants.
• Cheer squad duties – encouraging and congratulating walkers as they complete the 5k route.
• Signposting any queries to Alzheimer Scotland’s Fundraising and Engagement or Brain Health teams.


Volunteer Support and Training
• You’ll receive a full volunteer briefing ahead of the event, including your role, safety information, and how to get the most out of your day.
• On event day, our friendly Fundraising and Engagement Team will be on hand throughout to guide and support you.
• You’ll be paired with other volunteers and Alzheimer Scotland staff, so you’ll never be alone in your duties.
• Any necessary equipment (lanyard, high-vis, t-shirt) will be provided on the day.


What We’re Looking For
• Friendly and confident volunteers who enjoy engaging with the public.
• Good team players who are happy to get stuck in with event preparation.
• Reliability and a warm, supportive attitude.


What You’ll Receive
• Volunteer t-shirt, hi-vis vest, and all the info you’ll need for the day.
• Light refreshments and reimbursement of reasonable expenses (where applicable).
• A fun and fulfilling day making a real difference.
• New skills and experience that may support future volunteering or employment.

Experience required

While no volunteering experience is required, It is important that volunteers enjoy meeting and talking to new people and feel able to sign post requests and queries when required.

Public Transport Information
To: Glasgow Club Crownpoint Sports Complex, Crownpoint Road, Glasgow G40 2AL
From: Glasgow City Centre (e.g. Glasgow Central or Buchanan Bus Station)



Bus
• Route 2 (First Glasgow) runs from Argyll Arcade (near Glasgow Central Station) directly to Crownpoint Road / Millerston Street. The journey takes approximately 12 minutes, with services every 5 minutes.
• Additional frequent services such as routes 8, 61, 240, 255, 64, 164, N2, and N240 also stop on Gallowgate, which is a 4-minute walk from the venue.
Train
• ScotRail trains from Glasgow Queen Street Low Level to Bellgrove Station run approximately every 15 minutes. From Bellgrove, it’s an 11 to 12-minute walk to the venue.
• Duke Street Station is another nearby option, also around an 11-minute walk to Crownpoint Sports Complex.
Walking Distances
• The nearest bus stop (Crownpoint Road / Millerston Street) is approximately a 4-minute walk to the venue.
• Both Bellgrove and Duke Street train stations are around an 11–12-minute walk away.

Travel expenses will reimbursed at a rate of 45p per mile or travel ticket costs provided.
