Chair Person

Join our Board as Chair of Ayr Gaiety Partnership (Voluntary)
A Landmark Opportunity to Shape Ayrshire’s Cultural Life
The Ayr Gaiety is more than a venue — it’s been a cornerstone of Ayrshire’s artistic and civic identity for more than 120 years. Owned and operated by the Ayr Gaiety Partnership since 2014 the theatre is now a thriving community arts hub with a growing regional profile. As we enter our next chapter, we are seeking a new Chair of Trustees to lead us forward with vision, credibility, and energy.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who will assist us in our mission to “enhance individual and community well-being through the performing arts”. The new Chair will build on strong foundations, helping to shape our future strategy, deepen community impact, and strengthen our cultural, commercial and civic partnerships.
We’re seeking an experienced and inspiring leader who can:
• Chair our Board with clarity, confidence and emotional intelligence;
• Act as a strategic partner to our Executive / Artistic leads;
• Bring or cultivate networks across culture, business, or public life;
• Be a passionate advocate for the value of the arts in rural and regional Scotland.
While experience in theatre or the wider arts sector would be valuable, we also welcome applications from leaders in business, education, public service or philanthropy who have a strong personal connection to the arts and a desire to make a difference. We particularly welcome interest from individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in arts leadership.
This is your opportunity to play an influential role in the future of:
• A theatre with soul, history, and potential;
• A committed and collegial Board of Trustees;
• An opportunity to shape the cultural life in the region;
• The chance to leave a lasting legacy in Ayrshire’s arts landscape.
The role of Chair is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although expenses for travel may be claimed.
