Families First St Andrews
- VO103507
Families First St Andrews work with children, young people and their families, who are facing various adversities and challenges. The Family Support Service offers support to the parents and carers through 1:1 meet ups, group sessions and family days out. This volunteer role involves building supportive and consistent relationships with parents or carers who attend group activities, reducing their isolation. Volunteers are involved with the practical preparation for the group and get involved with the sessions alongside the parents and carers, which may involve hearing from local community groups, doing a craft or celebrating a birthday!
Experience required
Group Volunteers are friendly and engage enthusiastically with group members. They may also draw upon their own personal or professional experience when building relationships with the parents and carers. Group Volunteers may bring their own interests and hobbies to share with the group as well. Volunteers are empathetic towards individuals with additional support needs or facing adversities and are willing to learn how to manage certain behaviours as needed.
Travel details
Group sessions currently happen in Rose Lane Centre and St Andrews Baptist Church, both off South Street, St Andrews. On-street parking is limited.
Travel expenses
Expenses are reimbursed monthly for travel and staff will assist with expense forms. Mileage is reimbursed at 45p per mile.
