Volunteer Receptionist – Haddington Citizens Advice
Are you friendly, organised, and looking to make a difference in your community?
We’re looking for volunteers to join our reception team for 4–8 hours per week.
As a Reception and Admin Volunteer, you’ll be the first point of contact for clients and play a key role in creating a welcoming environment.
What you’ll do:
• Greet clients and make them feel welcome
• Book appointments and take messages
• Answer phone calls
• Carry out simple admin tasks
What we’re looking for:
• Good communication skills
• Confidence using email, the internet, and Microsoft Word
• Accuracy in recording information
What we offer:
• Ongoing support from a full-time Volunteer Support Officer
• Annual progress reviews
• Supervision during advice sessions from experienced staff
• A friendly team of around 30 volunteers and 15 staff
You’ll be supporting a vital East Lothian service that’s been helping local people since 1978. We assist around 2,000 clients each year with free, independent, impartial, and confidential advice on issues like housing, benefits, debt, employment, and more. The work of this bureau resulted in over £1.8 million in financial gains for our client in 2024 alone!
