Fundraising Leader / Coordinator (Ratho Branch)

Volunteering details

Seagull Trust Cruises, who provide short free canal cruises for the elderly, infirm, and those with additional needs, are looking for someone to head up and lead our fundraising activities. You will be responsible for researching potential funding opportunities, Compiling and writing funding applications and developing and facilitating fundraising events. The charity operate 9 specially designed wide beam barges, all wheelchair accessible, from 4 branches, and run around 2000 cruises per annum, carrying approximately 22,000 passengers. The Ratho branch is a major contributor to the Charity's activities and ongoing success, and the branch has a major fundraising objective to enable us to purchase an additional new boat.

Experience required

Although there is no need for any experience in the Scottish Canal Network, the role obviously involves being aware of our canal activities, and the social and well being advantages to our passengers and our volunteers. More important however is the ability to search out and compile applicable fundraising applications, work with others in our branch, to spread the word, and ensure the future success sustainability of Seagull Trust Cruises. The branch are autonomous within the Seagull Trust Charity, and our committee comprises extremely competent Treasurer, Secretary, Booking & membership Secretaries, Boat Maintenance Convenor etc. together with the various skippers responsible for "manning the cruises". You would be invited to sit on the committee, but this is not critical. The role is wide and varied and will suit anyone with fundraising experience (perhaps recently retired) who would like to get involved with a vibrant charitable & well respected organisation.
