Community group volunteer for Kirkcaldy Snooker Group

This role will directly support people living with dementia who attend our local weekly Snooker group in Kirkcaldy alongside our staff team. You will be part of a small team offering person centred, individualised support that meets the needs of each person who attends. The group enjoy playing snooker and having a blether.

-Supporting a community group as requested by the group leader.

-To enable individuals to meet with others with similar interests


-To communicate with people with dementia, family members and staff within the community group setting.


-To attend training to be informed about dementia and to attend any other necessary training relevant to volunteering role.


-To carry out any other reasonable duties requested of the volunteer.


Experience required

· Contribute positively to the role and Alzheimer Scotland’s vision for change, demonstrating commitment to its values

-Excellent interpersonal skills.

-Ability to recognise and respect the rich diversity that exists within our communities, views, attitudes and lifestyles.


-Participate in induction training and any refresher updates or ongoing learning.


-Willing to follow Alzheimer Scotland’s guidance, feedback and implement changes to practice where necessary.


-Willing to follow Alzheimer Scotland’s policies, procedures and guidelines, and honestly reflect in practice


Travel details

The group takes place at Styx Snooker Club, 23 Victoria Road, Kirkcaldy, KY1 1DS, on a Friday afternoon from 1pm to 2.30 pm. Parking is available at Styx, and there is a public bus service in the area too.

Travel expenses

Public transport expenses will be reimbursed on production of a receipt. Mileage will be reimbursed at 45p per mile when the volunteer uses their own vehicle. These will be reimbursed monthly and processed by the Volunteer Co-Ordinator.

Support
Training details

The volunteer with have a volunteer induction training session with the Volunteer Co-Ordinator before they join the Community Garden Group. Then ongoing training relevant to the volunteer role and corporate policies e.g. Dementia Friends training; Brain Health training etc.
