Fundraising and Events Office Support Volunteer - Placement

We have an exciting opportunity to volunteer with CHAS in our Head Office as part of the fundraising team. You’ll have the chance to work amongst our Community Fundraisers and Challenge Event Fundraisers while gaining experience in fundraising, events planning and more.

Your support will help to develop and deliver events and activities on our fundraising calendar and raise awareness of CHAS across Scotland, leading to increased donations. This will enable us to support even more families who need our care and support.


What you will be doing:



  • Assisting with the development and delivery of key fundraising projects.

  • Researching potential donors and events.

  • Stewardship of event participants and donors.

  • Data segmenting ahead of one of our key mailings.

  • Banking and general supporter communications.

  • Event tasks – including marketing, volunteer recruitment, preparation of materials and capturing content at events.

  • Carrying out phone calls to supporters and event participants.

  • Updating our supporter database.

  • Ad-hoc support for other teams in the fundraising department, e.g. High Profile Events team.

  • Undertaking any training that will help you in your role.

Experience required

The skills you need:


  • An understanding of events, events marketing, and an enthusiasm to learn more.

  • Excellent IT skills – including knowledge of Microsoft (Word and Excel).

  • Good organisation, communication and numeracy skills.

  • Patience, empathy and tact.

  • An ability to represent CHAS enthusiastically and appropriately.

  • Adherence to rules around GDPR and a strong understanding of confidentiality.

  • An ability to relate to people of all ages.
