Retail Assistant

About Bairns Boutique

Bairn Boutique is a small charity shop, based in Drumchapel shopping centre (MicroShops) that sells preloved and new clothing and accessories for children. It is an expansion of our charity, Bairn Necessities. Our aim is to promote the purchasing  of low cost, affordable pre-loved clothing and essentials to reduce waste and prevent items from going to landfill. Bairns Boutique is currently open Wednesday to Friday but we are keen to expand to opening 5 days per week.  We ask volunteers to dedicate themselves to a regular daily shift per week.

 


About this role:


The retail assistant role is the smiling face of Bairns Boutique. Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for welcoming customers and assisting them with their shopping experience. 


 


Tasks:


. Customer Service


Providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Answering questions about 3D Drumchapel and Bairns Boutique.
Handling complaints or difficult situations professionally. Explain complaints procedure.


  1. Handling Donations & Stock


Sorting donations and ensuring quality standards.
Pricing and displaying items attractively.
Stock rotation and replenishment guidelines.


  1. Using the Till & Processing Sales


Operating the cash float and card machine.
Issuing receipts and handling refunds (if applicable).
Cash handling and end-of-day procedures.
Recording daily stock sold in inventory/stock book.

 


Experience & Requirements:


There is no experience required for this position, however it may be suitable for people who are interested in environmental issues and  helping families. Training will be provided.
