About FARE Scotland
FARE Scotland (Family Action in Rogerfield and Easterhouse) is a grassroots charity based in Glasgow, working to improve the lives of people in disadvantaged communities across Central Scotland. Since 1989, FARE has provided support through youth clubs, family services, employability programmes, and community wellbeing activities. The Weekly Adult Group is part of this wider effort, offering a safe, welcoming space where adults can connect, stay active, and build friendships. By volunteering, you’ll be helping FARE deliver its mission of reducing social isolation, improving wellbeing, and empowering people to thrive in their communities.
Volunteer at Our Weekly Adult Group
Role Purpose
To help create a welcoming, inclusive space for adults to stay social, active, and connected. Volunteers support weekly sessions by assisting with activities, chatting with participants, and helping the group run smoothly.
What you can get involved in:
Welcoming participants and helping them settle in
Supporting activities such as arts & crafts, baking, games, and gentle exercise
Helping serve and tidy away food
Assisting with setting up and clearing away materials and refreshments
Encouraging conversation and participation
Making teas, coffees, and snacks
Supporting staff with any additional tasks to ensure sessions run smoothly
Commitment
We’re looking for volunteers who can support us weekly on Mondays and/or Thursdays, ideally from 9am–12pm. Although we have an ideal time commitment in mind, we’re flexible — even a little time makes a big difference, and we’d love to hear from you!
What support will you receive?
Induction and training: We’ll provide an introduction to FARE, the group, and your role
On-going support: Staff will always be on hand during sessions to guide you and answer questions
Regular check-ins: Opportunities to share how you’re getting on and raise any ideas or concerns
Expenses: We’ll cover agreed-upon out-of-pocket expenses such as travel
References: After a period of regular volunteering, we’re happy to provide a reference to support future opportunities
What you’ll gain as a volunteer:
The chance to make a positive difference in people’s lives
Opportunities to develop communication, teamwork, and facilitation skills
Experience of working in a supportive community setting
Meeting new people and being part of a friendly, welcoming team
