Bruce Festival Organiser

The Dunfermline Bruce Free Festival hosted in the 'Ancient capital of Scotland' and Bruce's burial plot is the ideal
location to celebrate the life and times of Scotland's legendary hero. The festival is held annually on the first week-end
in June. The event has been a fantastic success with up to 20,000 attendees and 94% of visitors wanting to return.
Given this success the objective for 2026 is to grow the festival even further through an enlarged programme of
events.
The organising team of four volunteers are looking for one or two additional people to help organise next years event.
Anyone who has any interest in Scottish history and culture will be excited by this role. Working with the team the
position will entail helping to organise next year's festival. This will mean getting 'stuck in' to a wide variety of
activities from liaising with community groups, organising performing artists, marketing the event as well as possibly
some fundraising. This is not for the 'faint hearted' but no previous experience is necessary as lots of support will be
given by the rest of the team. It will however help if candidates have good verbal and written communication skills

Travel details

Event organising happens in Dunfermline with weekly/fortnightly meetings on a Friday at a local hostelry, with tasks completed at home in between.

Training details

Volunteers will be involved from day one in meetings where individual tasks are agreed by the team Volunteers will
not be expected to carry out tasks which they feel uncomfortable with and will also be supported by other team
members if required to complete any task. It is a very friendly and supportive culture
