Careers Hive Volunteer

Help inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists, medics, coders, makers and thinkers.

Careers Hive is a STEM careers event with a difference. We bring S1–3 students together with STEM professionals to try hands-on activities and share career experiences, highlighting the different opportunities and career pathways that can open up by choosing STEM subjects.

We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly volunteers currently working in any STEM field to share their experience with our young visitors.

▪ VOLUNTEER ROLES AT CAREERS HIVE ▪
Meet the Professional
Using fun hands-on STEM activities, break the ice and chat to students about what you love about your job, how you got there and your future industry predictions.

Think Tank
Participate in quick-fire conversations where small groups of young people will have five minutes to ask you some face-paced career questions.

▪ BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING ▪
Inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists, coders, makers and thinkers
Help young people understand the breadth of job opportunities open to them
Take advantage of a unique personal development opportunity
Network with other professionals in STEM careers
Attend a free half-day Communicating with Confidence training course

▪ GET INVOLVED ▪
If you’re interested in volunteering at Careers Hive and can commit to at least one full day or two half-days between Monday 27 – Thursday 30 Oct, then please complete our volunteer application form.

Experience required

We aim to showcase a broad spectrum of jobs and workplaces, so whether you’re an apprentice, machinist or a researcher, a coder, a site engineer or a lab helper we’re keen to get you involved.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from you if you got to where you are via non-traditional routes, or if you identify with a minority group underrepresented in the sector.
