October Week Holiday Programme Volunteer

Role Purpose: To support the delivery of fun, inclusive holiday activities for children in P1–P7. Volunteers help create a safe and welcoming space where children can play, learn, and connect with others during the school break.

What You Can Get Involved In:
• Welcoming children and helping them settle into the day
• Supporting activities such as sports, arts & crafts, games, and themed events
• Assisting with setting up and tidying away materials and equipment
• Encouraging participation and positive behaviour
• Helping with snacks, meals, and refreshments
• Supporting staff with any additional tasks to ensure the day runs smoothly

Skills and Qualities Needed:
We’re looking for volunteers who have some experience working with children or young people, and who bring:
• A friendly and approachable manner
• Patience and enthusiasm
• Reliability and punctuality
• Willingness to work as part of a team
• Respect for children’s individuality and needs


Please note: All volunteers will be required to undergo a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check. FARE Scotland will cover the cost of this. If you already have a PVG with us, you’re good to go!


Commitment:
The programme runs on 14th, 15th, and 16th October, from 9:00am–3:00pm at Oakwood Primary School. We’re flexible — even a few hours of your time would be valuable, and we’d love to hear from you!

Travel expenses

Volunteers may request reimbursement for reasonable, pre-approved expenses incurred on behalf of FARE Scotland by submitting valid receipts. Examples of reimbursable expenses include:
• Travel between home and the volunteering site and travel during volunteering activities.
• Meal costs up to £7.00 (with receipts) when volunteering for four or more consecutive hours.
• Specialist clothing required for the role, subject to prior discussion and approval
