Volunteer for the Base

Main Duties:

To organise and prepare for activities, where appropriate.

To supervise activities and discussions, and where appropriate to participate alongside the children and young people and to carry out these tasks in a way that meets the aims and values of The Base (Midlothian).


To attend and take part in planning and recording meetings weekly.


To work within the policies, guidelines and legal requirements of The Base (Midlothian).


Commitment/Availability


This role is on a flexible basis whereby volunteers will be welcome to attend on a weekly basis or on an ad-hoc basis when required to assist.


We ask that regular weekly volunteers let us know in advance if they are unable to attend a session.


For ad-hoc volunteers, The Base (Midlothian) will inform you in advance if additional help is required.


Sessions will run on 1 weekday during term-time and volunteers will be expected to be available on the day for approx 3 hours.


Travel Expenses


We firmly believe that no one should be out of pocket for volunteering at The Base (Midlothian). Therefore, we reimburse all travel and out of pocket expenses incurred through volunteering.


Requirements


To be successful in this voluntary role you must:


Complete an application form
Provide two references
Complete a PVG check (either new or an update if already an existing member)
Undergo induction training and Child Protection training (training will be provided free of charge)


Experience required

Likes dealing with children, is not shy and has energy to bring fun to the youth club, ideally has chid protection course,first aid

The Base youth club is registered with LAYC, which provide all training and support – PVG checks will also be included free of charge

Minimum age: 16
Adult to be able to cover the ratio, 1 adult = 10 kids
