Community Support Volunteer -Support families and children in our community sessions, helping create a welcoming, friendly environment

Mums the Word CIC is a community-led organisation supporting families, babies, and parents through welcoming and inclusive sessions. We are looking for volunteers to help run our family-focused groups and create a safe, friendly environment for all participants.
As a volunteer, you will:
Support the running of sessions, including helping with activities such as stay & play, messy play, creative arts & crafts, helping with snacks, and parent-led workshops
Welcome families and help them feel comfortable
Assist with setting up and tidying up session spaces
Contribute ideas to make sessions engaging and fun
Offer friendly conversation and encouragement to participants
Work as part of a supportive team, following guidance from session leaders
Important: All volunteers aged 16 and above will require a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check. Full support and guidance will be provided to complete this process.
No prior experience is required. All volunteers will receive a full induction and ongoing support. This role is suitable for young people completing Saltire Awards, parents, or anyone wanting to gain experience working in a community setting.
Time commitment: Flexible – volunteers can commit as much or as little as suits them, with sessions typically on weekdays.

Experience required

We welcome all volunteers! Whether you are Confident or anxious, neurodivergent, come with a bag of skills and knowledge, or are just starting to learn , there’s a place for you here. We’ll support you every step of the way and help you gain new skills, build confidence, and contribute to our sessions in a way that suits you.
No prior experience is needed — just a friendly, positive attitude and a willingness to help families in a welcoming environment
