Volunteer Gardener

No matter how good our services are, we can't properly support our users/community well if we don't have good organisers in the team. If this sounds like you... we would love you to consider volunteering with us for a few hours per week.
AOK is a fully constituted community group made up of volunteers who aim to improve the appearance of and life in Old Kilpatrick. Following a series of public meetings in early 2015, AOK was set up by local residents of Old Kilpatrick who love, and want to protect and support the village.
We have three subgroups: environment, gardening and history & heritage.
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to support our gardening and outdoor maintenance activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, cares about the environment, and wants to contribute to creating welcoming green spaces for the community.
At Kilpatrick Village, we help care for the flower beds through planting, weeding, and general garden maintenance to keep the area attractive and welcoming for the community. In the greenhouse, we plant seeds for flowers and food crops, support harvesting activities, and help with composting and general greenhouse maintenance. At Kilpatrick Station, we care for the flower beds to help encourage bees, birds, and butterflies while increasing local biodiversity. Before volunteering at the station, all volunteers must complete the health and safety requirements through the Adopt a Station programme.
So whether you are looking to use your time well, update your skills or have the chance to do something a bit new, we can offer you a warm welcome and all of the support and help you could need.
We are seeing a rise in demand for our services everyday. Having your help will allow us to be there for the people who need us. Any time you can give will make a real difference.
