Arkbound Foundation
- VO105872
Arkbound Foundation is seeking new trustees to help guide and strengthen our work in social inclusion, publishing, education, and systems change.
We are a grassroots charity committed to amplifying underrepresented voices, supporting people facing barriers, and fostering a more just, compassionate, and interconnected society through creative expression, dialogue, and practical action.
Our projects have included writing and mentoring programmes for people in prison and youth justice settings, publishing opportunities for emerging writers, educational initiatives, community workshops, and wider work exploring social, ecological, and economic transformation.
We are currently looking for thoughtful, values-driven individuals to join our Board of Trustees and contribute to the next stage of the charity’s development.
What the role involves
Trustees play a vital role in supporting the governance, strategic direction, and long-term sustainability of the charity. Responsibilities include:
Helping guide the charity’s vision, strategy, and development
Supporting good governance and ethical decision-making
Contributing ideas, insight, and constructive challenge
Reviewing key organisational matters such as finance, fundraising, partnerships, and project development
Acting as ambassadors for the charity and its mission
Supporting the charity’s commitment to inclusion, creativity, and social impact
Trustees are not expected to manage day-to-day operations, but to provide oversight, guidance, and support alongside the wider team.
Time commitment
Approximately 4–8 hours per month minimum
Attendance at quarterly trustee meetings (minimum expectation)
Occasional additional input depending on availability and areas of interest
Meetings are generally held online, allowing flexibility for trustees based in different locations.
Who we are looking for
We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly those who share the charity’s ethos of compassion, inclusion, dignity, creativity, and systemic change.
We are especially interested in hearing from people with experience or interest in areas such as:
Publishing, writing, or education
Youth justice or social inclusion
Community development
Fundraising or charity governance
Finance or legal knowledge
Ecology, sustainability, or regenerative systems
Communications and partnerships
Lived experience of social barriers or marginalisation
Previous trustee experience is welcome but not required. Integrity, openness, collaborative spirit, and alignment with the charity’s values are more important than formal credentials.
Why join Arkbound?
Arkbound is a small but ambitious charity that believes meaningful change often begins at the margins — through voice, creativity, community, and the courage to imagine alternatives.
Joining the Board offers an opportunity to contribute to work that seeks not only to support individuals, but also to challenge deeper patterns of exclusion, disconnection, and inequality within society.
We are particularly interested in trustees who value both practical action and deeper reflection on the kind of society we wish to help build.
