The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) and the British Thoracic Society (BTS) are developing a new guideline on severe asthma. We are looking for people based in Scotland or England who have lived experience of severe asthma, and parents or carers of children and young people with severe asthma, to join a lived experience panel.
Panel members will share their experiences and views to help make sure the guideline reflects what matters most to people affected by severe asthma.

Training details
Panel members will receive a structured induction led by SIGN’s Patient Involvement Advisor. This will include an introduction to SIGN, the role of BTS and SIGN in guideline development, and the methods used to develop guidelines. The aim is to help members feel confident, prepared and supported in their role.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
Frequency & commitment
Meetings are expected to take place online, and support will be available to help people take part. There will be at least 3 panel meetings over 24 months, with the first meeting planned for October 2026. You do not need any specialist knowledge or experience of guidelines to join the panel.
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
