Volunteer Sports Centre Assistant

Polmont Sports Centre Community Group are a sports centre who have recently taken over the centre from Falkirk Council. They are a multi sports facility catering for all ages and abilities within their community. Polmont Sports Centre Community Group are solely run by volunteers and seek to promote a pleasant volunteering experience for all volunteers.
Polmont Sports Centre Community Group are looking to recruit volunteers for the role of 'Volunteer Sports Centre Assistant' to help with the daily tasks of running the sports centre. Tasks for this role include:
*taking bookings (this can be done over the phone, in person or online via the online booking system)
*take card/cash payments for any bookings
*keeping records of payments received
*set up and clear away equipment for activities
*helping to keep all areas within the sports centre clean and tidy
*deal with customer queries

Experience required

No experience required but an interest in sports would be helpful but isn't essential. Literate and numerate to basic levels would be an advantage and a customer focused pleasant attitude would be helpful.

Salmon Inn Rd, Falkirk FK2 0XF.
The Centre is on the main Maddiston to Falkirk bus route with a bus stop directly across from the centre.

Travel expenses

Mileage rates are 20p per mile and full reimbursement for public transport will be given on production of a ticket.

Support
Training details

Introduction to tasks, showing around facility, going over rules for centre and charges structure.
Discussing volunteer policy, safeguarding procedure and health and safety responsibilities.
Training will include first aid at work, fire warden, manual handling, customer focused skills (online OU training) and any training needs identified by us or the volunteer.
PSCG are keen to support volunteers with any course they feel would improve their employability skills.
Support will be given by an experienced volunteer and regular monthly support meetings (informal).
No volunteer will be on their own until they feel ready.

Frequency & commitment
The Sports Centre is open every day from 9am - 10pm. Volunteer days/times can be flexible and hope that volunteers can commit to 4-6 hours per week.

Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
