Walk Leader - Falkirk Area

Braveheart are currently recruiting volunteers who can help us support older individuals, of varying needs, to increase their physical, social, and mental wellbeing through walking. We need individuals who can lead and accompany low level health walks at our Weekly and Away Day Walks around the Falkirk area. If you have a few hours spare per week, enjoy walking, and meeting new people then this could be a great role for you!

The main responsibilities include:


  • Working alongside Walking Development Officer, and fellow Leaders, to risk assess and plan suitable low-
    level walks within the Falkirk District

  • Leading and supporting our walking programme – walks vary from 30 minutes to 1 hour Weekly Walks, and 45
    minute to 1.25 hour Away Day Walks

  • Providing a friendly, welcoming and safe environment for walkers

  • Handling essential paperwork for new and current walkers

  • Attending 6 weekly Walk Leaders meetings

Experience required

Good interpersonal skills, reliable, good timekeeping, friendly, approachable, sociable and patient.

Walks happen in various locations across Falkirk.

Full training (including First Aid) and support will be given and this position requires volunteers to undergo a PVG check.

Walk leaders are generally expected to lead/support one walk a week (roughly 1 hour), but this will be discussed as part of the recruitment process. Most volunteers commit to 1 year.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
