Day Service Volunteer

Support older people in your local community to improve their quality of life.
Later Life Choices Glenrothes is seeking Day Service Volunteers for client groups from Monday to Thursday (10.30 am to 2.15 pm) for a minimum of 3.75 hours per week. The key elements of this role are:
• Engaging with clients and supporting them in a person-centered way
• Assisting in supporting clients with activities
• Assisting clients to and from their transport
• Serving lunch and refreshments to clients
• Occasional dish washing or kitchen duties
• Ensuring a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere for clients
If you enjoy helping others and meeting new people, this role could be for you! It could also be an excellent opportunity to boost your confidence, work on your interpersonal skills and promote personal development. Full training is provided.

Experience required

Experience of working with/caring for older people, including people with dementia is desirable, however training is provided. A caring, professional approach to others is essential, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work as part of a team. Reliability and a commitment to volunteering is also desirable.

Travel details

Day Sessions are held at Napier House, 300 Napier Road, Glenrothes, KY6 1BF. They are within walking distance from the town centre and bus station and are on a bus route. There is street parking available

Travel expenses

Travel expenses are reimbursed at 45p per mile within the Glenrothes boundary for those driving in, and bus fares are capped at £5 per session on receipt of tickets.

Training details

Volunteer training consists of an induction to the role and organisation, Moving & Assisting and Dementia Awareness.
Ongoing Support & Development also provided.
