Colourful Carnoustie

Volunteering details

Colourful Carnoustie is a group of volunteers who develop and maintain the floral ‘look’ of the town by providing and maintaining hanging baskets, cascades, planters, train station tubs, and other projects that help to brighten up Carnoustie, especially during the summer months. We work with local schools and organisations and are dedicated to improving the environment that we live in and in involving all sections of the community.
In 2015, 2016 and 2018 Carnoustie won gold awards in the Beautiful Scotland competition. After the 2018 Open Golf ended the R&A invited bids for participation in The Open Legacy Fund. We were successful and have been awarded money, principally to upgrade the so-called Rest Garden, opposite the Leisure Centre, plus other projects
Carnoustie to Barry is a long town, as I am sure you know. Slowly but surely we have managed to move both east and west from the town centre, with summer hanging baskets and other projects. If you haven’t seen the work done at the start of the cycle path as you leave Carnoustie to East Haven, or at the Dibble Tree, to name just two examples, do have a look.
As always we need Help! Help of any kind is much appreciated, whether in providing ideas, helping with projects, an hour or two of planting up or weeding, taking responsibility for watering one or some planters or fund-raising.
