Volunteer Receptionist

To provide a warm and friendly welcome to all hub visitors, answer telephone calls, and signpost people to the appropriate services within the building. Tasks include:
Welcoming visitors to the building.
Answering and forwarding phone calls in a polite and friendly manner.
Responding to email inquiries.
Directing inquiries to the correct team member
Maintaining the reception area, ensuring it’s clean and tidy.
Receiving deliveries and distributing incoming mail.
Stocking reception with required supplies.
While not a requirement of the role there is also the option to take on additional administration tasks e.g. updating inventories, contact lists, taking room bookings, event planning.

Experience required

Good written and verbal English is essential.
A warm & friendly manner.
Positive attitude towards work.
Being comfortable with basic technology e.g. telephone, laptop, photocopier, printer.
Some prior experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) would be helpful, but training will be provided.

Travel details

Space @ The Broomhouse Hub, EH11 3RH
Tram to Saughton (5 – 8 mins walk to the Hub)
Buses:

• No. 30 and get off at Longstone. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the hub – you have to go through the tunnel crossing.


• No. 3, 35, 34, X27, 25, X28 and get off at Sighthill post office. It will be 5 minutes to the Hub. Go through the tunnel crossing to the other side (the bus stop) and walk straight down.

Travel expenses

This role is unpaid however, reasonable expenses associated with the role can be reimbursed.
Our volunteers get a free lunch.
