We are looking for Telephone Befrienders to help out at the HOPE Project Office in Stevenston. This role requires the following:
• Someone who likes a good chat and is able to encourage and stimulate an older person to express themselves and feel comfortable engaging in conversation
• Inspiring enough confidence further down the line to allow for attendance at a social activity
If you like the idea of working alongside older individuals and would enjoy this telephone service then this is the right opportunity for you.
Experience required
Looking for people who have an interest in working with Older Individuals and would like to help older people remain independent within their own homes for longer and help to support them when necessary.
Travel details
Opportunity takes place at the HOPE Project Office in Stevenston, North Ayrshire. This is situated on a main bus route.
Travel expenses
Expenses will be paid on request - proof of bus/train tickets. Mileage will be paid for all travel connected with the project. (Training and Volunteer Work)
Support
Training details
The induction session will be followed up by training sessions, disclosure check and on-going training and support sessions thereafter.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
Availability
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
