Fundraising & Engagement Volunteer

The Scottish SPCA is Scotland’s only all-animal rescue service and their work is done without any government funding. They are looking to expand their team of vital fundraising and community engagement volunteers as fundraising is now more important than ever and support is required in every Scottish community.

This role can be tailored around current lifestyle and commitments, accommodating personal preferences relating to both time commitment and tasks to be completed. The volunteer may attend events, help with bucket shakes or collection cans, and there is also the opportunity to join the speaker network or help with pop-up advice hubs – there’s lots to choose from.

By building relationships within the local community, the Scottish SPCA hopes that volunteers will have fun, learn new skills and meet new people. For anyone passionate about animal welfare and looking to make a difference, this may be the ideal role.

Experience required

We are looking for people who are passionate about animal welfare and the work of the Society. Volunteers should be friendly, approachable and confident in building relationships.

Travel details

This opportunity is based in the community and events could be held at any number of locations throughout Fife. Volunteers should able to travel to and from these locations by whichever means they prefer. A car/driving licence is not required for this role. As the role is flexible in terms of commitment, volunteers are not expected to attend every event unless they wish to.

Travel expenses

We pay mileage at 0.45p per mile up to 15 miles each way (up to 30 miles total) per volunteering shift. We also cover train/bus tickets up to £12.50 per return journey. Volunteers provide a bank mandate form and submit their expenses request within a month of incurring the request. Expenses are processed and reimbursed by our finance team twice monthly.

Training details

Volunteers must complete some online training courses before starting any practical tasks (e.g. basic health and safety, Scottish SPCA policies and procedures, data protection… etc.) This is hosted on our online training platform but we can help with access and there are alternatives available for those unable to do the training online. Once the training is completed volunteers are invited for an induction at the location of the volunteering role. We discuss the role and cover important health and safety, such as fire evacuation plans and first aid provision for the building (if appropriate). Volunteers are given practical training and shadowing opportunities until they feel confident in their role and can work unsupervised. They have a named contact for any queries or concerns. The named contact will also have regular informal chats to support the volunteer.

Restrictions
