Food Train - Falkirk
- VO99980
The Food Train is an award-winning charity which operates throughout Scotland, supporting older people in local communities to remain living in their own home, as independently as possible.
We have a large number of older people in Falkirk experiencing loneliness and isolation who enjoy getting out and speaking to others from their local area. Our volunteer outing helpers assist our members in accessing trips to local cafes and places of interest. If you like chatting, meeting people and getting out and about then this could be the role for you!
The role involves:
- Collecting and returning home older people, either as a chaperone on a minibus operated by a local company or in your own vehicle if preferred.
- Updating staff after outings and completing any monitoring/reviewing as required.
- Informing staff of any concerns, accidents, or complaints
- Option to attend volunteer meetings, training and social events throughout the year
If you have some time to spare and want to help older people and meet new people then we would love to hear from you!
Experience required
We don't require any specific skills or experience but it is important that our volunteers are reliable, patient and are able to communicate clearly with our shopping service members. An awareness and understanding of the needs of older people and the difficulties they may face living at home whilst ageing would be beneficial.
Travel expenses
We have an expenses claim form for volunteers, and we reimburse reasonable travel expenses or fuel at 45p per mile.
