Community Cafe Helpers

We are a local community café staffed by volunteers, which runs during term time at Oldmachar Church in Bridge of Don every Friday morning.

We serve tea, coffee and fine pieces. We are open to everyone; (no pets) but welcome service animals; and have a wide variety of regular customers who pop in for a coffee and a chat. We are accessible and inclusive and welcome everyone individually. We have a variety of spaces, a large room with a toy corner, with a selection of books and puzzles for children to enjoy. We also have a quieter space with a small library of donated books to read or take away, but there are also more open spaces in our foyer area to make sure everyone has a space where they feel comfortable.

We pride ourselves on our friendly service and would like to add to our team to be available to spend time to chat to those who want to. You would add to our friendly team of volunteers.

There are no essential skills or experience required for this role as you will be part of a friendly team who will guide you. There is also the opportunity to complete a basic food hygiene training course should you wish to do so. If you like people, and can carry a tray, wipe a table, enjoy a blether and smile, this is suitable for you. There is always a team leader in charge each week, to support all the volunteers. It’s a fun, active and busy role, and you will certainly “get your daily steps in” This is a great opportunity to develop your customer services skills, gain experience waiting tables and meet lots of new people.

A fantastic opportunity to help make a difference for people and the local community. All help is greatly appreciated.
