Community Support Volunteer - Pool at the Tayport Arms

This role will support the activity of having a friendly game of pool at the Tayport Arms and
making memories. People living with dementia, their family and friends and anyone with
an interest in dementia can attend this activity group. The role may vary but is likely to
include;
-Offering a warm welcome to people who attend.
-Listening and interacting with people living with dementia, family members who
attend the group.
-Keeping up to date with Alzheimer Scotland news and our work across Scotland.

Experience required

-Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to recognise and respect the rich diversity that exists within our communities,
views, attitudes and lifestyles.
-Committed to Alzheimer Scotland’s values.
-Participate in induction training and any refresher updates or ongoing learning.
-Ability to honestly reflect on practice.
-Willing to follow our guidance, feedback and implement changes to practice where
necessary.
-Willing to follow our policies, procedures and guidelines.

Travel details

Our pool group (Cue and Connect Pool) meet at the Tayport Arms, 3 Nelson Street, Tayport,
DD6 9DN every Wednesday from 1 pm to 2.30 pm.

Travel expenses

We will pay public transport expenses as long as the volunteer keeps the receipts. We will pay fuel mileage (45 p per
mile) when the volunteer uses their own vehicle. These will be reimbursed monthly.

Support
Training details

The volunteer with have a volunteer induction training session with the Volunteer Co-Ordinator. Then ongoing
training relevant to the volunteer role and corporate policies e.g. Dementia Friends training; Brain Health training
