Delivery Driver & Drivers mate

The Scottish Pantry Network is a community-led organisation that supports collaboration and knowledge-sharing among local community groups that run food pantries in Scotland. The network promotes a model of redistributing surplus food to reduce food waste, while also providing affordable and healthy food to those in need.

The network encourages collaboration among its member pantries, providing support and training to help them operate more efficiently and effectively

Volunteer Driver and Driver's Mate Needed!

The Scottish Pantry Network urgently requires volunteers to support the redistribution of surplus food to pantries across the city. We are seeking individuals to fill both the Delivery Driver and Driver's Mate roles.

Commitment:

Minimum of 4 hours per week
Minimum Age: 25

About Us:
TSPN champions a creative model and strength-based approach to tackle food insecurity, offering a ‘shopping experience’ to individuals and their communities. Pantry members are not required to explain their circumstances, and memberships are open to everyone in the community. The Pantry model is based on a membership system where shoppers choose their food items, designed to be inclusive and to position Pantries as local food outlets rather than food support services.

Why This Role Matters:
The need for providing basic support, including food, is increasing dramatically, as are the risks of poor mental health, social isolation, debt, relationship pressures, and unemployment. TSPN members facilitate an effective way to provide food with dignity within local communities, helping individuals stretch their budgets further, enhancing community engagement and cohesion, and reducing large-scale food waste.

Role Requirements:

For Delivery Driver:
Must have experience operating a medium-sized transit van.
A standard driver's license is required.
Must be able to lift and load objects.
Flexibility is essential, as managing surplus food can be unpredictable; daily routes and drop-off locations may change.

For Driver's Mate:
Assisting the driver with loading and unloading food items.
Supporting navigation and ensuring safety during transit.
Being an extra set of hands to ensure efficient operations.

Ideal Candidates:
A pleasant, outgoing, and charming individual who gets along well with others would be ideal for this position.

How to Apply:

If you are interested please click the ‘Apply' button (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided.
