Foodbank Referral Volunteer

Falkirk Foodbank believes that no one in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide up to five days nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

To support the work that we do, we are looking for a dedicated volunteer to help manage our referral process, ensuring those in need can access food parcels efficiently and with care. This role will be crucial in supporting our work with partner agencies and the public.

As a Referral Volunteer, you’ll be handling referrals by phone and email, collecting and recording essential information, creating food vouchers, and maintaining our digital database. You’ll be engaging with various referrers, including Falkirk Council, the NHS, Citizens Advice, and others, providing guidance on referral requirements. You will also assist members of the public with referral enquiries and support those wishing to donate. Key responsibilities include:

  • Accept and process referrals from professional agencies and members of the public

  • Collect client details, generate food vouchers, and log information onto our database

  • Offer guidance to referrers on our food parcel requirements

  • Support members of the public with referral queries and provide information for those wishing to donate

This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about supporting the local community. If you have a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and want to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you!
