Volunteer Retail Shop Assistant

Support a Great Cause, Build Your Skills, and Make a Real Difference!

About Us:
St Margaret’s Hospice Care has been providing compassionate, specialist care to patients and their families across Somerset for over 40 years. Through our in-patient and community services, we help people live as well as they can. Our charity shops play a vital role in raising the funds needed to continue delivering outstanding care and support when it’s needed most.

About the Role:
We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our retail team as Shop Assistants at our Clydebank store, based in the Clyde Shopping Centre. Our shops raise vital funds to provide care for those facing life-limiting illnesses — and you can be part of that impact.

What you’ll be doing:

-Welcoming and assisting customers
-Operating the till and processing sales
-Sorting, pricing, and preparing donated goods
-Creating eye-catching displays
-Keeping the shop clean, tidy, and well-stocked

Supporting shop promotions and fundraising activities

What you’ll gain:
Volunteering with us offers you a fantastic opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience:

-Learn excellent customer service skills and gain experience operating a till
-Understand stock management — how to evaluate, price, display, and sell donated goods
-Work as part of a supportive and passionate team

Gain hands-on experience of the retail sector from start to finish

Location & Times:
Our Clydebank shop is located in the Clyde Shopping Centre.
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.
We are looking for volunteers who can offer either half-day or full-day shifts — whatever suits your availability best.

Time Commitment:
Flexible — to be agreed with the shop management. We can work around your schedule!

Why Volunteer with Us?
Retail volunteers are highly valued members of our team. By volunteering, you’ll be making a meaningful difference in people’s lives, supporting vital hospice care services while gaining new skills and experience yourself.

How to Apply:
If you’re ready to make a difference, we would love to hear from you!

Option 1: Click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You’ll be contacted by our coordinator by email or phone. If you haven’t heard back within 5 working days, please check your spam/junk folders or reach out to us directly.
