Larder Volunteer

The role of Larder Volunteer is an exciting opportunity based at our Food and Essentials Larder that is based in Inchyra Place in Grangemouth. Our Falkirk & Grangemouth TSS Service supports individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

The role of Larder Volunteer will include assisting in the operation of our service Larder by organising, stocking, and distributing food to individuals and families in need, ensuring they receive practical support that meets their individual needs and preferences.

At Wheatley Care, we focus on individual strengths and abilities and support people to manage challenges they face. We encourage people to lead on the delivery of their care to support them to achieve what they want to achieve in their life.  


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Sort, organise and stock pantry shelves with fresh and non-perishable items.

  • Check food items for expiration dates and quality assurance.

  • Support the team by preparing food packages for distribution to people we support.

  • Maintain a clean and organised Larder space.

  • Help with unloading and correct storage of food donations.

  • Delivery of food packages to people we work for.

  • Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling procedures.

  • Follow and adhere to service risk assessments.

  • Work effectively with the team.

Experience required


  • Friendly and compassionate attitude.

  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderate loads (e.g., grocery bags, food boxes).

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Dependable and punctual.

Bus Route: Midland Bluebird - Bus Routes 2A, 3 +4 to 1 Inchyra Place, Grangemouth

FROM GRANGEMOUTH
Bus Route 3: Charing Cross, Grangemouth - get off at Oldwalls Place, Kersibank and 5 minute walk to service.

FROM FALKIRK
Bus Route 2A: Vicar Street, Falkirk - get off at Duke Street, Kersibank and 10 minute walk to service.
Bus Route 3 + 4: Vicar Street, Falkirk - get off at Oldwalls Place, Kersibank and 5 minute walk to service.


Travel expenses

We reimburse volunteer travel expenses.

Support
Training details

Support to develop a personal development plan with a supervisor to offer ongoing support in your role.

Regular supervision with your supervisor to allow you to discuss your progress and any areas you feel you need additional help or support in your role.

Orientation provided on our Larder operations and health & safety protocols.


Ongoing guidance and support from the staff team and team leaders.


Ability to gain REHIS Food Hygiene Certificate.


Access to a range of training through our training team and access to online learning through our MyAcademy training suite.


We will reimburse your travel and other reasonable expenses.


You will gain valuable work experience.


You will work as part of a friendly team and gain experience working with a leading care organisation.
