The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) in Forth Valley encourages and assists older people to use their skills and experience to volunteer and keep active in retirement. Across Stirling, Falkirk, and Clackmannanshire we have hundreds of older people volunteering in their communities in local primary schools, hospitals, healthy walking groups and charitable knitting groups. Volunteering can have a huge impact on the people and communities we support.
The RSVP Schools programme has volunteers in several primary schools across Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire. Volunteers support pupils with their learning on a 1:1 basis, and in small groups, often also helping students with confidence and social skills.
We recognise that having an older role model in the classroom can aid children’s progress in school. The tasks usually include reading, arithmetic, arts and crafts, music, school trips and more.
We are looking for 1 / 2 new Schools Organisers to support our schools volunteering programme across Stirling, Clackmannanshire and Falkirk. As our Schools Organiser, you will be a point of contact for our schools’ volunteers, helping to ensure that they have a good experience. You will support us to recruit new volunteers and introduce them into their roles. You will liaise with local schools where we have volunteers placed, as well as new schools. You may choose to volunteer in the classroom yourself too. The role is flexible and you may need to meet with new or current volunteers and the staff in schools in which they volunteer on a flexible basis rather than 1 specific day per week.
