Retail Volunteer – Barnardo’s Glasgow Govan

Location: Unit 12, Govan Cross Shopping Centre, Govan, Glasgow, G51 3JW
Time commitment: One shift per week (flexible—more shifts welcome!)
Minimum age: 14+ (parental permission required if under 16)

Join Our Vibrant Volunteer Team

Our amazing team of vibrant and diverse volunteers helps us run over 600 shops across the UK. These shops sell a fantastic range of donated and new goods, raising vital funds to support disadvantaged children, young people and families.


Our retail stores are the face of our charity on the high street and in local communities. Volunteering with us means being part of something meaningful while making a real difference.


What You'll Be Doing


Sorting and preparing donated items for sale
Steaming, pricing, tagging, and displaying stock
Creating eye-catching displays to attract customers
Assisting on the till (full training provided)
Keeping the shop clean, organised, and welcoming

We receive loads of amazing stock every week, and your help ensures it’s ready for sale. Making sure the shop looks fantastic is a big part of what we do. You’ll also be a friendly face for our customers, helping create a warm and inclusive shopping experience.

Experience required

No Experience? No Problem!
There are no set skills required to volunteer with us. All we ask is that you’re friendly, willing to learn, and passionate about the work Barnardo’s does. We’ll provide all the training and support you need.

Glasgow Subway (Inner/Outer Circle): Catch the subway from Buchanan Street or St Enoch toward Govan. Get off at Govan station, which is right next to the shopping centre—just a 2-minute walk

Travel expenses

Reasonable travel expenses to and from the shop can be reimbursed, with prior agreement from the shop manager, to ensure volunteers are not out of pocket.
