Speaker

We are looking for a volunteer Speaker who stays in or around Greater Glasgow to give talks to groups and organisations across the city, spreading the word about the work that we do, and the ways in which the public can support us. Through their knowledge and enthusiasm, our Speakers are a key way for us to connect with the public and to be ambassadors for our work. If you enjoy meeting people, have experience of public speaking, and want to make a difference for woods and trees this could be the volunteer role for you.

Experience required

Experience of public speaking and ability to present, inspire and engage a variety of audiences
Genuine interest in woodlands and conservation
Ability to handle a range of audience members, including those that may be more challenging
Ability to use a digital projector and Microsoft PowerPoint
Willingness to research local groups in your area who may be interested in a talk and make connections with them
A sensible regard for health and safety

Travel details

You will need access to a phone, a laptop, the internet, and an email address, as well as the ability to get to locations within roughly an hour’s commuting distance to the centre of Glasgow, either by car or public transport.

Travel expenses

Expenses will be reimbursed for return journeys from home based on public transport cost or mileage at standard rates for the Woodland Trust.

Receive all the training and support you need to provide the talks you will be delivering
