Youth Support volunteers

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, friendly and love working with young people from varying backgrounds and abilities in a youth club setting.

Youth Community Support Agency is a youth-led charity aiming to empower the BME and asylum seeker and refugee community. We work with young people from the age of 7-25 in the southside of Glasgow and through a range of services YCSA supports young people to embrace their potential to become active and valued members of our diverse society, developing the skills and leadership abilities to succeed in life.

We need volunteers with an experience of providing a service to young people to assist in a youth club setting with games, sports and arts and crafts activities. You will work alongside a member of staff and if required will be given the opportunity regarding training.

Your main responsibilities:

• Facilitate activities.

• Organise and engage young people.
• Encourage young people to participate and develop confidence.
• Connect and build trusting relationships with young people.

Desirable but not essential skills and interests:

• Experience/interest in working with young people.
• Arts and crafts.
• Football/ sports.

• Cycling proficiency.

We are looking for people who are free to help with our mixed youth club, girls and boys groups and our chill out group on Tuesday and/or Wednesday evenings from 5pm- 9pm. We are based in the Southside of Glasgow at the YCSA office at Govanhill Workspace and Pollokshields Community Centre. Please see our website: ycsa.org.uk for more information on our services.

YCSA requires all volunteers to provide references and be PVG certified. YCSA will facilitate the PVG process and provide the necessary training to work with children and vulnerable adults. Additional volunteer training and supervision will also be offered. As a volunteer, you will be fully supported by the Volunteer Coordinator.

If you are interested, please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). The coordinator will then contact you by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on info@volunteerglasgow.org
