Youth Club Volunteers for age 7-12

Youth Community Support Agency is a youth-led charity aiming to empower the BME and asylum seeker, and refugee community. We work with young people aged 7-25 in the south side of Glasgow, and through a range of services, YCSA supports young people to embrace their potential to become active and valued members of our diverse society, developing the skills and leadership abilities to succeed in life.

We are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic, friendly, and enjoy working with young people from diverse backgrounds and abilities. This opportunity is based in a youth club setting and involves working with young people aged 7-12.

We work with young people from the age of 7-25 in the southside of Glasgow, and through a range of services, YCSA supports young people to embrace their potential to become active and valued members of our diverse society, developing the skills and leadership abilities to succeed in life.


We need volunteers with experience of providing a service to young people to assist in a youth club setting with games, sports and arts and crafts activities. You will work alongside a member of staff and, if required, will be given the opportunity for training.


Your main responsibilities:
 Facilitate activities.
Organise and engage young people.
Encourage young people to participate and develop confidence.
Connect and build trusting relationships with young people.

Desirable but not essential skills and interests:


Experience/interest in working with young people.
Arts and crafts.
Football/ sports.
Cycling proficiency.

Time & Commitment


Mixed youth club (ages 7–12).
Tuesday evenings, 5pm–9pm.
Based at Pollokshields Community Centre.

Volunteer Requirements


Two references required.
PVG certification (facilitated and paid for by YCSA).
Training and ongoing supervision provided.

What happens after you apply


Your application will be received by the YCSA Volunteer Coordinator.
The coordinator will contact you (by email or phone) within 5 working days.
You will be invited to an informal chat/interview to discuss the role and your interests.
References will be requested (YCSA will guide you on this).
YCSA will support you to complete a PVG check (required for working with young people).
Once cleared, you’ll receive an induction and training before starting.
You’ll be matched with staff in the youth club and begin volunteering on agreed dates.
Ongoing supervision and support will be provided throughout your volunteering journey.

• Good communication and listening skills.
• Patience and empathy when supporting young people.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Creativity and problem-solving in activities.
• Reliability and commitment to agreed sessions.

Travel details

Pollokshields community centre is a 10 minute walk from Shields Road Subway station. You can also take the train from Central station to Pollokshields East train station which is an 8 minute walk from the community centre. There are also numerous buses from the city centre you can take including a number 5, 38 and 3.

Travel expenses

Reasonable expenses will be paid.
