Management Committee Members

Describe the volunteering Opportunity
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to help make the Hillhead community a better place to
join our voluntary Management Committee. The Committee meets 10 times a year, on a Wednesday
evening from 5.30 to 7.30. The key functions of the Management Committee are;- setting strategy and policy for the Housing Association- taking account of tenants' views in respect of rents and services- monitoring performance- ensuring legal and regulatory compliance
What can volunteers gain from the opportunity?- shaping the future of the local community- gaining new knowledge- learning new skills- Board / Committee skills- personal development and training
More information about the Association and our work can be found at www.hillheadhousing.org

Experience required

There are no essential skills or experience required. Enthusiasm and a commitment to the aims of the
Housing Association are the most important things, along with the ability to provide constructive challenge.
However, it can also be useful to have members who have some specialist knowledge, such as finance,
community development, IT etc, but again this is certainly not a prerequisite. Currently we would
particularly welcome applications from people who come from groups who are underrepresented on our
Committee - younger people (under 45), and those from BME backgrounds. We have a number of
vacancies to fill so applications from anyone who believes in the importance of social housing are
encouraged
