Volunteer Mentor

Quarriers intandem mentoring service recruits volunteer mentors in local communities across Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire, the mentors seek to help children aged 7-15 years who are looked after at home by providing; regular visits, access to appropriate activities and a positive role model within the child’s life. We also promote volunteering opportunities by attending open days and events at colleges, work places and universities. The service is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and motivated volunteer to join the team to help support this work.

With the right support, all children and young people can thrive and communities are strengthened. Their vision is that all young people who are in care or on the edge of care have the resilience and confidence to succeed in life.

THE ROLE:
The main tasks of a Volunteer Mentor will be building a positive, trusting, supportive and secure relationship with children & young people aged 8 – 14 who are looked after at home.



  • Working in a person-centred way with young people

  • Providing opportunities for young people to participate in meaningful activities

  • Promote the wellbeing of every child through creative and fun approaches

  • Communicating and linking with the intandem mentor coordinator on a regular basis.

  • Working as part of a team as well as on your own.


Experience required

• Knowledge and experience of working with children and young people
• Ability to engage & build a positive relationship with children & young people
• Reliable, Trusting and Supportive
• Have fun and enjoy

Frequency & commitment
Volunteer mentors meet with their mentees once per week for a couple of hours at a time that suits both mentor and mentee. *Note - most mentees attend school and will meet mentor after 3pm.
