  1. Treasurer role
    The Treasurer is a volunteer role with the Board of Trustees. The role is required to oversee the charity’s finances and supporting financial control systems.

  2. Main duties and responsibilities
    • Keeping the Board informed of all financial duties and responsibilities.
    • Advising of the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans and key assumptions in the operational plan and annual budget.
    • Understanding the accounting procedures and key internal controls to be able to assure the board that the charity's financial integrity is sound.
    • Ensuring that a realistic budget is produced which meets all the After School Club’s needs and that there is an appropriate reserves policy. Ensuring that proper financial procedures and controls are in place to safeguard the charity’s resources.
    • Monitoring quarterly income and expenditure position.
    • Presenting quarterly and annual financial reports and budgets to the Board of Trustees
    • Ensuring that accounts are prepared at year-end in compliance with the current SORP Accounting for Charities and ensure that they are audited or independently examined, as required by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.

  3. Personal skills and qualities
    • Financial experience and/or qualifications.
    • Ability to think strategically
    • Analytical and problem solving skills
    • Some experience and/or knowledge of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes
