The Clubbie is the name given by members to the R VH Meeting Centre, a well evidenced community support model for people living with dementia which has been taken into a hospital setting for the first time in the world at RVH. Clubbie members who are all inpatients have chosen to take part in the national Climate Wisdom Project working with people living with dementia to take part in climate related discussions and activities. Members have decided to grow some of their own food :potatoes, carrots, peas, tomatoes and soft fruits etc so we need someone experienced in doing this to help us please !
Experience required
Able to chat comfortably with older people, and good knowledge of gardening /growing veg.
Travel expenses
With receipts all travel expenses to the Clubbie and return will be covered for volunteers.
Support
Training details
All volunteers take part in initial induction training and depending on skills and knowledge additional training around communications, and activity provision for elderly people.
Taster
Interested people can visit the Clubbie at anytime to meet members and see our greenhouse etc.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
Availability
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
