Board Members

South West Aberdeenshire Citizen’s Advice Bureau is currently looking to recruit volunteers who live locally and would like to contribute to their local community by joining their Board. They are seeking team players who have strategic vision, independent judgement, and a willingness to give time to help support and develop the organisation.
The board are all volunteers with the key role of ensuring that the organisation fulfils all its legal obligations, operates efficiently and continues to thrive for the benefit of the community it serves.
Some of the responsibilities are listed below, additional will be discussed on application.
• Attending Board meetings Bi-monthly, reading papers in advance and participating actively in all discussions and decisions.
• Maintaining contact with bureau staff and other Board members between meetings as required.
• Being aware of the advice needs of the local community, services of other providers and the opportunities and challenges facing the CAB in addressing needs.
• Contributing actively to setting policy and strategic direction and to planning and evaluation of performance.
• Monitoring the financial position of the bureau and ensuring financial and other resources are managed effectively (both strategically and day to day.)

As a Citizens Advice Bureau adviser, you’ll be part of the wider Scottish Citizens Advice network and will have access to ongoing training and development. Training details

Full Trustee induction and training programme.
Communication skills and willingness to be an active participant in discussions and decisions. Local understanding. Willingness to learn about local needs, services, resources, issues and opportunities. Commitment to the aims, principles and policies of the CAB including those related to equality, independence, data protection and employment.
Finance, Fundraising, Governance or Third Sector experience would be beneficial.
Previous experience on Boards would be an advantage.
Also beneficial is the ability to think strategically and creatively and to participate actively in the discussion and decision-making processes.
