Adult Activity Leader (Lewis)

Role Purpose
To support or lead informal learning, creative, or wellbeing activities for adults, helping libraries act as welcoming community spaces.
Key Responsibilities
• Support delivery of adult learning or interest-based activities
• Encourage participation in a supportive and inclusive way
• Assist with preparation and tidying of spaces and materials
• Signpost participants to library services and staff
Skills and Attributes
• Friendly and respectful approach
• Good communication skills
• Interest in community learning or engagement
• Willingness to undertake safeguarding training
Training details
The volunteer will liaise with the branch manager at their local library, who will guide them through their induction, and will be the first point of contact for any issues, questions, or problems should they arise.
Restrictions Minimum age: 17
Safeguarding Responsibilities
• Follow safeguarding procedures for working with vulnerable adults
• Maintain professional boundaries at all times
• Report any concerns about wellbeing, safety, or behaviour immediately
PVG and Recruitment
• PVG membership may be required, depending on the nature of the activity and participants
• Appropriate checks will be discussed before appointment

Experience required

• Friendly and respectful approach
• Good communication skills
• Interest in community learning or engagement
• Willingness to undertake safeguarding training
