Home-Start Cowdenbeath
- VO106332
Home-Start Glenbeath is a newly merged organisation covering the Glenrothes and Cowdenbeath areas.
Home-Start Glenbeath is part of a network of local Home-Starts throughout the UK which offer support and guidance to young families helping them to develop and grow. The families which Home-Start Glenbeath support are experiencing many difficulties including financial hardship, difficulties with their mental health and illness and loneliness.
The organisation is seeking a Treasurer to join the Board to help them move into the next phase of the development. It is exciting times and the chance for an individual with financial management skills to help the organisation reach as many families who need support as they can.
You will join, and be supported, by a Board of Trustees with a variety of skills and a staff team of 10. The organisation currently has bookkeeping support and uses Xero.
Experience required
The organisation is looking for some-one who has finance and accounting experience, who can help their organisation move forward sustainably. They should be interested in supporting families to give their children the best possible start. The individual would be responsible for managing the organisations finances and aid trustees to make decisions in the best interest of the organisation.
Travel details
Home-Start Glenbeath is based in Glenrothes but covers Glenrothes and Cowdenbeath areas. The administrative centre is in Glenrothes and some attendance at the office may be necessary. The Board meets 6 weekly with a combination of face to face and remote meetings. On average it would be expected that the volunteer would give around 2-3 hours of their time each week. But this may be variable depending on the time of year. Much of the activity can be done from home. At a time of your choosing. Training and support is offered and all volunteers require ID and safeguarding checks. They will become Directors of the organisation and as such will be registered with OSCR and Companies House.
Travel expenses
We pay out of pocket expenses monthly in arrears, using current HMRC rates. We can accommodate weekly expenses if necessary.
In terms of access, whilst our offices are not truly wheelchair friendly we can make arrangements for access or for meeting in more suitable premises.
