Greeter & Receptionist Volunteer

We are looking for Reception Volunteers to provide a friendly welcome to patients and guests when they arrive at the hospice, helping to create an enjoyable environment for everyone. We are also looking for Greeter Volunteers at our Glasgow Hospice Wellbeing Centre.
As a Reception Volunteer, you will play a key part in making sure that all visitors experience our friendly atmosphere from the moment they arrive. You will be the first point of contact that a visitor meets, and will have the chance to present the hospice in the best light from the earliest opportunity.
Your main duties will involve:
Greeting visitors
Answering the phone and taking postal deliveries
Ensuring the Reception Area is clean and tidy
Maintaining confidentiality regarding patient details and hospice records
Helping with any other related tasks when necessary

Experience required

• Excellent people skills with an outgoing personality • Good numeracy and literacy • Good computer skills • Confidence and the ability to manage phone calls • A commitment to high standards and the provision of an excellent service • A reliable and responsible attitude • Discretion and an awareness of the importance of confidentiality

Travel details

This opportunity will be based at the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow, 133 Balornock Road, Glasgow G21 3US. The hospice is located in the grounds of Stobhill Hospital and the area is served by the number 71, 71A, 72, 87, 88 and 88A buses. The hospice is a 20 minute walk from Bishopbriggs train station. Some limited parking is available next to the hospice.

Travel expenses

Marie Curie will reimburse volunteers for any reasonable out of pocket expenses. These can be claimed on a monthly basis and will be paid by bank transfer.

Support
Training details

All volunteers who will be based in the hospice will receive induction training before they begin their role, as well as role specific training from their line manager. Volunteers will also be required to make sure they renew their training when required by attending a relevant session.
Volunteers will be supported by and have regular contact with their volunteer manager, who will also be able to provide additional support and advice if needed.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 16
Marie Curie’s policy is that volunteers in hospice based roles must be aged 16 or over.
