Connect Online Home-Visitor

Volunteers will visit housebound learners within their own homes for one hour per week to provide tuition on the computer. Tuition will last for 8 weeks and will generally cover basic digital skills such as using internet and email, online shopping & social media, but can be flexible dependent on what the learner would like to cover.

Experience required

Good general IT skills and good communication skills are essential. Previous experience of working with the internet and email are essential. Volunteers should be patient and friendly, previous experience of working with people is desirable.

Travel details

Tuition will take place in learners' own homes throughout Midlothian. Volunteers must arrange their own transport to and from learners' homes.

Travel expenses

Volunteers travel expenses will be reimbursed for journeys to and from learners’ homes. We will reimburse public transport rates or mileage at 45p per mile. Expenses can be reimbursed weekly or monthly.

Support
Training details

All volunteers will provided with an initial induction/training session. This will cover Health & Safety issues and a general induction to the role. Ongoing training and support will also be provided.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18
Volunteers will be required to join the PVG Scheme as this opportunity involves regulated work with vulnerable adults.

Volunteers will visit learners for one hour per week to deliver IT tuition.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
