Explorer Scout Volunteers

Volunteering for the Scouts is a great way to take part in new experiences, meet a whole load of friendly people and have fun. There is something for everyone whether you’d like to help out week-after-week or whenever-you-can, the Scouting Association will provide training, learning opportunities and loads of fun. You don't need any particular skills although enjoying being outdoors helps.

Borders Reivers Explorer Unit is a small group of young people aged 13 to 17 from the Central Borders and is looking for adult volunteers to join in weekly sessions on a Monday night in term time and to help with nights away adventures.

The unit aims to meet outside in various locations, ( Abbotsford, Drygrange, Selkirk, Galashiels) approximately 7-9pm when possible and sometimes at Galashiels Scout Hall. Transport not a requirement as lifts from Gala can be given.

In the academic year 2024/25 we will be having fun through new experiences while developing skills together primarily outdoors.

As well as our weekly meeting we are planning to have one night camp in October, a two night indoor camp in November, a three night city break in February and a seven night jamboree in August as well as some expeditions led by the young people in the Spring of 2025.

Experience required

Reliable & trustworthy. Good organisation and communication skills. Team player. Enjoy spending time outdoors.
