Could you give just 30 minutes of your time each week to have a telephone chat with someone aged over 75 and living with Parkinson's? Parkinson's is a degenerative disease that affects your physical mobility which means getting out for social groups and gatherings can be extremely difficult. It can be very isolating and lonely when you're not able to meet your friends or attend activities you once enjoyed. As a telephone befriender you will be matched with someone for a weekly telephone call and help to be a friendly ear and bring a smile to their week. You can talk about anything and everything and no experience is required because Parkinsons only affects your physical mobility.
This role is from home and flexible to your schedule so if you study, work or have caring responsibilities, this 30 minute chat can be fit around your availability.
This is great for someone looking to add to their CV, give back to their community or if you know you can be a good bletherer!
