Volunteer Energy Champion

Greener Kirkcaldy (Cosy Kingdom) are recruiting volunteer Energy Champions to help them speak with people about their project and inspire the community to get involved in their events and activities. The role will allow you to help the energy advice project to support people to take action to manage their energy use and reduce their carbon footprint.

Volunteers are at the heart of their work. They currently have more than 100 active volunteers supporting a range of projects and activities within the key themes of climate action, energy, food & growing and active travel.

This role will allow you to gain/develop skills relating to providing energy advice, supporting Cosy Kingdom and your local community.


Are you interested in helping people in your community to manage their household energy use and reduce their carbon footprint? If so, Greener Kirkcaldy’s energy advice project (Cosy Kingdom) may be the volunteering opportunity for you.

Travel details

Location - These roles are available across Fife.

Greener Kirkcaldy/Cosy Kingdom will support you to volunteer in the area of Fife you live in or are comfortable travelling too.

Greener Kirkcaldy volunteers can operate in Levenmouth, Kirkcaldy, Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline & South West Fife. People wanting to volunteer in Glenrothes and North East Fife can volunteer with St Andrews Environmental Network (StAndEn) to support Cosy Kingdom.


Travel expenses

Normally public transport rates will be reimbursed on the production of a receipt. If mileage needs to be claimed, due to no available public transport, 45p per mile will be reimbursed

Greener Kirkcaldy (Cosy Kingdom) aim to have volunteers in their local area of where they are happy to volunteer but with an aim to keep travel to a minimum.

Training details

-Mentor support and 121 development
-Training including - climate literacy, first aid, renewable energy, fuel poverty, saving energy, presentation & communication skills,
-A full induction will be given regarding Greener Kirkcaldy’s (Cosy Kingdom) policies & values

Restrictions

Minimum age: 16
At this stage the project is not set up for young people below 16yrs of age but this may change as we develop the volunteering offering.
