Reception/Front of House for Heritage Venue

Become part of an exciting local community facility, discover the hidden histories of the Victorian Burgh of Maryhill and learn new skills. Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust is an event venue and local heritage site in Northwest Glasgow. We are looking for volunteers to help us operate and safeguard this historic and dynamic building.

The Front of House Team are at the heart of keeping this community facility alive. Being at the forefront of our busy event venue and local heritage site, volunteers are the face of the Burgh Halls and welcome our customers to our beautiful venue and museum.

Our volunteers help us deliver excellent customer care and tasks can include:

  • Welcoming visitors to the Halls and to exhibitions

  • General Administration

  • Handling phone and email enquiries

  • Providing information on the current activities in the halls and the history of the building and the Trust

  • Manning the gift shop.

TRAINING AND SUPPORT FOR VOLUNTEERS
We provide in-house and, where possible, external training to support our volunteers. We reimburse travel expenses to and from Maryhill Burgh Halls from the Greater Glasgow area. It is the Trust’s aim to provide a fantastic range of skills development opportunities for volunteers.

We welcome people who are available to join the team for a weekly commitment that suits the individual; from one-half day, full day per week or more. Timing and availability will be discussed at an informal chat before you begin. The role will happen within office hours, Monday to Friday, 9:30 to 17:00. Event support happens during the evenings and weekends so this is an option but occasional.

If you are interested please click the ‘apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email. MARYHILL BURGH HALLS WILL REOPEN AFTER THE CHRISTMAS BREAK THE WEEK OF 6TH JANUARY 2025. The volunteer coordinator will be in touch with you that week. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on 0141 226 3431.
